We are proud to announce the celebration of our 15th Birthday this month and have been reflecting on our journey over the past 15 years, the highlights, the challenges and the changes. A significant milestone was our renovation and revamp 5 years ago. This change made a great contribution towards enhancing the full gastronomic experience at Aubergine.
In honour of our birthday we thought it fitting to profile our namesake, the Aubergine for this newsletter. I hope that you enjoy the recipe for one of our all time favourite dishes, the Aubergine Soufflé. We have selected our Aubergine Sauvignon Blanc /Semillon made at Iona Vineyards as the ideal wine to pair with this dish. New wines joining the Aubergine house wine family include the Cabernet Franc 2009 from Raats Family & Pinot Noir 2010 from The Winery of Good Hope.
For the French Culinary Week from the 17th to the 23rd of September we offered a selection of classic French dishes paired with wines made by French winemakers in South Africa. From the 26th of September we will reveal our Spring Menu which should include white asparagus and artichokes…depending on Mother Nature. Keep an eye on our website for details.
We’ve been very busy at Auslese and recent events include the Mont du Toit Wine Pairing Dinner and Jan Hugo Music Evening. The Music Evening featured a classical piano recital by young talent, Jan Hugo, with guests enjoying fine wines and a delectable selection of dishes during the intervals. We will be organising more exciting events over the next few months, including wine tastings in conjunction with the new Top 100 SA Wine guide.
Invitations to these events are only sent to those of you that are on our “Events” mailing list, so if you are not receiving them, please send us a mail and we’ll add you to the list.
With culinary regards
